Miller Primary and

Enhanced Nurture Provision

SESSION 26/27 TERM 1

NEWSLETTER

Welcome back and hello!

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am delighted to welcome you back to Miller Primary and ENP for the new school session. It’s been lovely chatting to you all over these first weeks and hearing about everyone’s summer holiday. We have an exciting term ahead, full of learning and fun – and opportunities to celebrate our pupils together.

I’d just like to take this opportunity to congratulate Ms. Black and Mrs. Mirren who both welcomed baby girls to their lives. Everyone here at Miller wishes them and their families well! As a father of two girls, I’d advise them both to prepare mentally for the teenage years.

School Uniform

Our school uniform is a white shirt and school tie or a white or blue polo shirt. Black, navy or grey trousers or skirt. School jumpers can be black, navy or grey.

Physical Education

Physical Education is a core area of the Scottish curriculum. It enables our children to become physically confident, build skills and develop positive attitudes towards lifelong activity. Therefore, it is vital that your children are prepared appropriately for gym sessions:

Children should wear a blue or white polo shirt with black, navy or grey shorts, joggers or leggings.

Trainers must be worn on PE days or a change provided.

P1 – P4 can wear their gym kit to school on the day they have PE.

P5 – P6 will need to bring a change of clothes on PE days.

Jewellery must NOT be worn on PE days. Please remove all earrings before coming to school. Tape or plasters covering are not permitted and staff are not allowed to remove earrings on the day – this is in line with Glasgow City Council’s Health and Safety policy.

Car Park

Please remember to be considerate as possible when parking at the school for drop off and pick-ups. We have a very limited number of spaces available in the car park and if none are available, then please park on Ardencraig Road and walk to the school gate. Please don’t park on grass verges or pavement. Unfortunately, an emergency vehicle had difficulty leaving the school area recently – a potentially dangerous situation that can’t happen again. We appreciate everyone’s support on this matter.

Parent Council

Our fabulous Parent Council are looking for new members this year. Please contact Mark Ingram on 07847454787 if you are interested. The Parent Council AGM will be held in the school on Tuesday 20th October at 9.30am.

Health promoting and nut-free school

Please provide your child with a bottle filled with water or diluting juice everyday – no fizzy drinks or cartons. All snacks and packed lunches should be nut-free to protect pupils with severe allergies.
